Hey there, Boltz!
Well done and thank you to all the amazing writers who participated in the Bone-Chillers by Boltz contest! All of your stories were chilling and super fun to read. However, we did have to pick one winner for the spookiest story …
Congratulations to our winner, Madison Hall! Her terrifying, or should I say, bone-chilling story left us all biting our nails in anticipation:
She hugged her knees close to her chest, surrounded by the darkness of her closet. Her only source of light and weapon was her phone, which she was feverishly typing on. Even though she was incredibly distressed and trying to convey that in her text messages, her mom wasn’t believing her and wasn’t answering any more of her texts. As she heard something fiddling with the doorknob of her room, she continued to desperately text everyone whose number she had—but very few actually answered, and those who did assumed she was messing with them. Tears fell down her cheeks as she heard the door unlock. The monster opened the door and began to “walk” into her room, stopping in front of the closet door. As it did, she turned off her phone and prayed that the clothes would hide her trembling form if the monster decided to check the closet. She clamped her hand over her mouth to keep her sobs from escaping. The door slowly slid open and she held more still than she ever had in her life. Something wrapped itself around her leg and dragged her out, screaming. She clawed at everything around her, but in vain. As the monster used its nightmarish appendage to lift her into the air above its mouth, she tried not to look into its beady, soulless eyes. And as the monster dropped her into its mouth, she heard her phone ring. But it was too late.
