Ever wanted to run a race in your backyard? On November 4th, Broomfield hosted its first-ever marathon event open to the public, with over 800 participants across five races, with a Family Fun Run, 5K, 10K, and half-marathon in addition to a 26.2 mile marathon. All races started and ended from the Broomfield Community Center, with different distances going on different trails. The marathon went through several neighborhoods in Broomfield, including Willow Park, Westlake Village, Broomfield Heights, and Willow Run . The marathon started near the Broomfield Community Center and went by Flatiron Crossing, the Butterfly Pavilion, 1stbank Center, the Big Dry Creek trail, Broomfield Commons park, and the Brunner Farmhouse. The winning times for the marathon and half marathon were 3 hours and 7 minutes, set by Ryan Seabury of Broomfield, and 1 hour and 30 minutes set by Jack Culp. The event was a huge success with over 200 participants in the marathon alone, and was a great experience for all participants. Congratulations to the winners and to everyone who completed the race!
