Description
Powerless by Lauren Roberts is placed in the fictional world of Ilya, a world after a dangerous plague. After the plague, most of the population gained powers by adapting, and were eventually called Elites. Those without powers, the Ordinaries, were banished from the kingdom, believed to be diseased. Paedyn Gray, an Ordinary, hides her lack of powers by posing as a psychic when, suddenly, she is put into the kingdom’s dangerous Purging Trials designed for Elites to show off their powers in a fight to the death.
Meanwhile, Kai Azer, the youngest prince of Ilya, will be the future Enforcer meant to hunt and kill any remaining Ordinaries . After a strange encounter with a psychic on the streets, he too is put into the Purging Trials to prove his spot as the Enforcer.
My Own Thoughts On Powerless
After reading this novel, I would definitely give it a ten out of ten. This book was exciting and gave Hunger Games vibes, while also having a slow burn romance with a love triangle. My favorite parts of the book were when Paedyn tries to choose between Kai or Kitt, Kai’s older brother. I also enjoyed reading the Purging Trials and seeing the characters fight each other. I was kept on my toes by the many cliffhangers and new characters. If you’re a fan of any fantasy book, this novel is a good fit for you.
