Jazz Band
November 16, 2018
Although Legacy’s Marching Band is incredibly well known, this school has another great band: the Legacy Jazz Band. True to the jazz style, the band is comprised of mainly brass instruments, such as trumpets, trombones, and saxophones, but also incorporates the piano, bass, guitar, and drums, giving the style of music a more modern feel. Members of the jazz band come from each grade level, and most also participate in the marching band.
The band performed 6 songs on November 6th, each one with a different cultural flair. The song Esperanto incorporated Spanish elements, and the song Count Bubba was performed with traditional New Orleans style.
Another unique feature of the jazz band is its emphasis on student solos and improvisation. The talented student musicians are each given a chance to shine, along with their metallic gold instruments, and execute their own musical vision. This leads to an exciting listening experience, and a greater appreciation for their art.
